Curriculum

Dandenong Primary School is a 'Professional Learning Community' of passionate, skilful educators whose focus is on ensuring that 'all children learn'. We are committed in our belief that all children have the capacity to achieve success and are united in our efforts to ensure our students are given the best opportunities to learn, and achieve high quality success

At Dandenong Primary School we are committed to creating a culture of learning that will enable our students to take their place as productive 21st century citizens. To do this we inspire our students to have a love of life-long learning, with the core values of respect, collaboration, integrity, compassion, acceptance of difference, pride and resilience. Through our engaging Inquiry learning units students develop creativity and critical thinking with a view to engaging co-operatively and sensitively in a future world.   

Our curriculum encompasses Literacy, Numeracy, Science, Humanities (History/Economics/Geography) Specialist areas of Art, ICT, Physical Education, LOTE (French), and Library. These programs are supported by an,  intensive English as an Additional Language Program (EAL program) that offers support to students in years 1-6. All students have Personal Learning Goals and an intensive, timetabled intervention schedule ensures that all students learn. 

Teaching a student

Our Foundation - 2 students are supported through an 'Investigations' program that develops their speaking and listening. A further Phonological Awareness program under the guidance of a Speech pathologist also assists these students, while Speech Therapy Assistance and Stuttering programs assist other students F-6.

Other programs that support student learning and achievement are, an integrated supportive, Wellbeing program- we are a 'Kids Matter School', focussed Social and Emotional Learning programs  F-6,  'Play is the Way' strategies integrated in classrooms, Student leadership program focusing on building Youth  Leadership and Student Voice,  After School Sports program, Yoga,  breakfast club 4 days a week, an award winning Playgroup that greatly assists transition into school,  Junior and senior choir, an onsite Kindergarten, and a Community Hub  that engages our parents and offers a variety of learning programs.
